A Shining Start and Steady, Diversified Growth

Over a 40 Year History
Founded in the early 1960s, MPI [Metallized Products, Inc.] began life as one of the first heavy-deposition film metallizers. MPI’s highly engineered NRC™ Super-insulation Metallized Films was specified in virtually every NASA program from early Pegasus satellites through the Shuttle program. In 1969 MPI’s Super-insulation film wrapped the lunar lander, providing critical radiant protection when the LEM was on the moon's surface.

In the 1970’s, MPI diversified it’s business by purchasing its first electron beam. EB1 was used to cure releaseable Chemistries and MPI became the largest supplier of releasable products cured by this process, and still is. MPI also formulated and produced abrasion and chemical resistant coatings for the furniture industry, and was a leader in the development of a line of patented coatings that rendered films permanently static-free for use in electronic packaging.

In the mid 1980’s MPI purchased it’s second EB, 72" wide. Continuing to expand, MPI installed EB3, an 82" wide electronic beam line, in the early 1990’s.

Soon afterwards an UV curing capability was added to EB3, greatly expanding MPI’s production capabilities and the available range and versatility of release levels and coatings, including both free-radical and cationic blends.

2004 was the year MPI changed its name from Metallized Products, Inc. to “MPI TECHNOLOGIES LLC” to more accurately describe it’s diversified businesses which included silicone release, cryogenic insulation, heat shields, furniture and other functional coatings, holographic and decorative applications.
